Hair Loss

Hair Loss:

Hair loss it is usually an unwanted sign of aging. Men and women instinctively have the desire to look good and feel good, and to retain as long as possible a fresh, youthful look.

It is less common in women but can have a far greater effect on self-esteem and confidence. It is more widespread than realised.

Hair loss in women can be due to genetic factors. This is called androgenic alopecia (or female pattern hair loss – FPHL). Up to 50% of women will be affected by hair loss due to genetic factors in their lifetime.

Other factors for hair loss are hormonal imbalances or changes, dietary deficiencies, stress, illnesses, hair styling and chemical hair treatments.

Hair restoration means to regrow the hairs in the thinned out or even bald area with permanent hair and also prolong the life of existing hair.

Evaluation of the patient’s hair follicles, density, colour, texture, type, Quality, Calibre (diameter) and existing hairline is essential.

How it is done

This therapy works by activating already existing stem cells on the scalp and by replenishing new stem cells. Mesenchymal stem cells play a role in the repair and regenesis of the hair follicle papilla.

Mini-liposuction (around 50 mL of fat tissue) is performed in the lower abdomen or from the belly under local anaesthesia. Mesenchymal stem cells are then extracted from the adipose tissues. These cells along with isolated fat particles and growth factors are injected into the dermis after cleaning and dermabrasion of scalp.

In some patients only multiple injections of PRP (growth factors and stem cells from blood) will be sufficient so the patient does not need to go for lipoaspiration. Only 20 to 50 ml of blood is taken by a syringe.

Adjuvants we also advocate proven medical therapies such as minoxidil, DHT blockers, Low Level Laser Light Therapy (LLLT), and Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) are also recommended.
